You are all invited to fish in the Fourth Annual Conejos Superfly. The Superfly is a fishing tournament held on the Conejos River with two-man teams competing for fun, prizes, and the chance to be 2009 Superfly Champs. This year we are adding a real reason for all the fun. A very large part of your entry will go directly to the Conejos River Restoration Project. (the fee increase is for this only)There will be games, prizes, fishing excursions, evening parties and a chance to have your name engraved on the coveted Mayfly Trophy. Here are some of the details:
*40 to 60 teams
*Top 15 teams from each of first two days will compete for Superfly Champs on Sunday.
*Two man teams
*No double professional teams
*Teams with a professional or guide on it will not be allowed to draw for top 4 beats.
*Teams with off days will be able to sign up for fun fishing excursions to fish for trout, pike, and carp nearby but are not allowed on Conejos. Excursions depart 9:00 from CRA.
*1 fisherman fishing at a time
*Points are given for every inch of the best 2 fish, one from each participant. Points earned following the big fish are as follows. 1 Point Rainbow. 2 points Browns. 3 Points Cutthroats.
*First 30 paid teams will be entered to start Saturday. Next 30 will begin Friday.
*Entry fee $185. Included in entry: Simms Rivertek custom Superfly shirt, prizes, two catered parties, Movie night and party 5:30 to 9:00 4/18, Awards party meal 4/19, swag!
*No limit to number of flies fished
*Draw for beats and registration each morning at shop between 7:30 and 8:00. Fish 9:00 to 4:00 daily.
*Assorted prizes for largest fish, those that might get skunked, etc.
*The event will be sponsored by Simms, Ross, G. Loomis, Patagonia, Sage, Rio, and Fishpond among others. There will be new G. Loomis rods, Sage Rods, Simms gear, Ross reels, Lamson reels etc. that will be given away throughout the weekend. There are also a number of local business that will help sponsor the weekend.
*Most importantly this is for fun and to raise money for a great project. Fish with your dad, mom, brother, friend, or wife. A little luck is what will win this not just the pro who knows it all! If you don’t win you will have spent some time in a beautiful place building lifelong memories and had a chance to contribute to a great project. Last year it was won by two amateurs and public beats held 5 of the top 10 places as well as the highest ever one day score 97.5 points.
This is a fun laid back weekend with access to the best private and public water on the Conejos River. If you come you are not allowed on the river during your off day during the event.
